The caregivers' support groups are peer-led open groups facilitated by two NAMI trained leaders who have loved ones with lived experience with mental illness. After opening introductions, group members are invited to share their stories and focus on what has been happening recently in their lives. Facilitators guide the group through offering advice and support from their own experiences. Members are welcome to come and simply observe but not actively participate.
NAMI South Shore currently runs one family support group in Weymouth. The Weymouth group is held at the VinFen office at 5 Finell Drive in Weymouth. It meets on the first and third Monday of each month (except legal holidays) from 6-7:30pm.
The Brockton support group is on hold while we seek additional facilitators.
If you are interested in joining a support group, please send an email to email@example.com before attending.
NAMI South Shore is also proud to offer Connections, a peer support and recovery group for those with mental health issues and/or substance use disorders. Connections is held on Wednesdays in Quincy a A New Way Recovery Center.
